All In the Famiglia: Carmen Argenziano – Jacob Carter to Stargate SG-1 fans – will take on a slightly more Earth-bound mission this weekend. This Saturday and Sunday evening will find him handling emcee duties for the first-ever La Lupa Italian Cultural Arts Festival at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga, Calif. Playing host – not to Selmak! – but to the fest’s Teatro Programme, Carmen will preside over an array of contemporary Italian and Italian-American performers presenting theatre, music, dance, poetry and lyric opera in a 90-minute program sure to delight and transport audiences well beyond the Jersey Shore.
In addition to playing Sam Carter’s father on Stargate SG-1, Carmen, a lifetime member of the Actor’s Studio, has acted in over 50 films and 100+ TV series and episodes, portraying a spectrum of characters from detectives to colonels, priests to senators, as well as some bad-boy gangsters and mafia types. But one real-life role he’ll never outgrow: proud Italian American. For those who’d like to feel the amore this weekend, go to www.lalupafest.com or call (323) 769-5808 to purchase tickets.
