Grand Opening of first Sony All-Digital 4K Multiplex Movie Theater and Restaurant in LA Southland suburb
Muvico has strong name recognition in the theater exhibition arena in the Southeast, but virtually no name or brand awareness on the West Coast. Since the first Muvico location would be located in Thousand Oaks, a further challenge would be to get L.A.-based press to visit the “outskirts” of the city, and to raise awareness of both media and the public of the many “firsts” represented by the opening: the first Muvico theater on the West Coast, the first Sony all-digital theater on the West Coast, the first multi-plex in the area, the first all-Muvico designed, owned and operated restaurant on the premises (Bogart’s Bar & Grill). Solutions: Organize and promote pre-opening media tour of theaters and restaurant in order to secure media coverage pre-opening to help build excitement in the community prior to Grand Opening weekend.
RMH booked pre-opening media tour and Grand-opening event that resulted in pre-opening and opening-week cover stories, features and sidebars in major national and local print publications including The New York Times, LA Daily News, Ventura County Star, The Acorn, Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Post Magazine, ect. RMH Media also secured feature segments on network affiliate newscasts including KABC Eyewitness News, which ran Muvico segments on opening day at 5pm, 7pm, 11pm and on FOX Good Day LA the following weekend. Local community organization outreach resulted in placement in newsletters, and directories including the Arts Council of Conejo Valley, The Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, Cal Lutheran University, etc.
